June 5th Show

I decided to feature two long tracks tonight: the first a collaboration between Robin Fox and Clayton Thomas, with Robin doing live processing of Clayton’s bass playing; and the second, a realization of John Cage’s Variations III by the Motion Ensemble. I’ve been immersed in Cage’s Variations II for a research project recently, so this seemed quite apropos for the show. Also, I found in the record library a great release from a couple of years ago by Andy Moor, Thomas Lehn, and John Butcher, with more improvisation and slightly less sparse than the Radu Malfratti pieces I’ve played in recent weeks.

  1. After Marja’s Cats by Embryo and NNCK. Embryonnck. Staubgold.
  2. Villarusetilla by Rauhan Orkesteri / Lauhkeat Lampaat. Sylissain oot. Ache Records.
  3. Between Downpours by Robin Fox & Clayton Thomas. Substation. Room 40.
  4. Six Dreams / Divided by Create(!). A Prospect of Freedom. Sounds Are Active.
  5. Variations III by John Cage (performed by the Motion Ensemble). Variations I, II and III. Mode Records.
  6. Imperfect Vehicle by Andy Moor, Thomas Lehn, John Butcher. Thermal. unsounds.
